Top engineering entrance exams- Engineering is one of the most popular career options in India after 12th among all academic courses. Every year lakhs of candidates are appearing for various National and state-level engineering entrance exams. Statistically the largest Top Engineering Entrance Exam for undergraduate programs is JEE Main. For postgraduate admissions, GATE is the most popular one.

JEE Main is one of the most competitive exam with more than 10 lakh students appearing for it every year. For the first time, in 2021, the exam will be conducted in four sessions in different months: February, March, April and May. Dates for all the sessions have been announced by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The exam is a gateway for admission to the NITs, IIITs and CFTIs and the first stage of the JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) system for admissions to the premier IITs in India; the second being JEE Advanced. The dates for JEE Advanced 2021 are yet to be announced.

The other exams in the list of top engineering entrance exams in India are BITSAT, COMEDK, WBJEE, VITEEE etc. Overall, most engineering aspirants appear for more than one exam in an academic session.

To help aspirants, we share below details of various engineering exams to be held in 2021. Candidates should note that the dates for some of the below-listed engineering exams in India are not yet declared. Thus, the dates for such exams will be updated as and when released by the conducting authority.  

1. JEE Main: This is one of the most popular engineering entrance exam in India. From 2021, the exam is getting held four times in 2021: February, March, April and May by NTA (National Testing Agency). JEE Main 2021 February and March session has been conducted from February 23 to 26 and March 15 to 18 respectively. The April and May sessions of JEE Main 2021 has been postponed due to COVID-19 pandemic


JEE Main Eligibility Criteria 2021- As per the revised JEE Main eligibility criteria 2021, 75% criteria is removed for NIT and IIIT admissions. NTA released the JEE Main 2021 eligibility criteria along with the official brochure at jeemain.nta.nic.in. Candidates are advised to check the eligibility criteria of JEE Main 2021 before applying for JEE Main 2021. JEE Main eligibility criteria 2021 consist of many important details such as educational qualification, age limit, nationality, marks secured in class 12th, compulsory subjects, and more. JEE Main 2021 applicants failing to meet the criteria will be rejected at any stage of admission by NTA. JEE Main 2021 will be conducted for admission into the undergraduate programmes offered by NITs, IIITs, GFTIs and also act as screening for JEE Advanced 2021.

2. JEE Advanced: The second stage of the JEE system, JEE Advanced is conducted once a year by the seven zonal IITs with guidance from the Joint Admission Board (JAB). The exam scores are used for admissions to B.Tech programmes offered by different IITs in India. Remember, only the top 2.5 lakh rank holders of JEE Main will be eligible to appear for JEE Advanced 2021. The exam date for JEE Advanced 2021 is July 3. 3. BITSAT: Conducted by Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani, BITSAT is a computer-based test (CBT) conducted annually for admission to Integrated First degree programmes like BE, Pharma and MSc programmes offered by BITS campuses located at Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad. BITSAT 2021 will held tentatively from June 24 to 30. For detailed information regarding BITSAT, click on the options given in the below table.

4. COMEDK: Consortium of Medical Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMED K) conducts COMEDK UGET (Undergraduate Entrance Test), a state-level examination. The exam scores are used for admissions to interested candidates in engineering and medical degree courses offered by colleges/institutes that are affiliated to COMEDK. COMEDK 2021 exam will be held online on June 20. For detailed information regarding COMEDK, click on the options given in the below table. 

The COMEDK UGET 2021 has been postponed due to COVID-19 pandemic. 

5. VITEEE: One of the most popular institute level B.Tech exam, VITEEE is conducted by the Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) for admissions to its B. Tech programmes. VITEEE 2021 will be held online. VIT University has cancelled the VITEEE 2021 and admission to its various campuses will be based on the scores obtained by candidates in the entrance exam.

The Vellore Institute of Technology has rescheduled the Entrance Examination VITEEE 2021, now the examination will be conducted on May 28, 29, and 31.

6. SRMJEEE: SRM Institute of Science & Technology conducts SRMJEEE for admissions to BTech programmes offered by its campuses in Kattankulathur, Ramapuram, Vadapalani and Delhi-NCR. SRMJEEE 2021 will be held online across more than100 test centres in India and few centres in Middle-east. SRM Institute of Science & Technology has made available the application form for SRMJEEE 2021. Admission to its various campuses of SRMIST will be based on the marks obtained by candidates in the entrance test. 

7. KIITEE: Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology, Bhubaneswar conducts Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology Entrance Examination (KIITEE) to offer admissions to candidates to its undergraduate as well as postgraduate programmes. KIITEE 2021 will be held at more than 60 test centres spread across various states in the country. The exam will be conducted from June 14 to 21, 2021.

8. WBJEE: West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) is a state-level examination conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB). The exam is a gateway for admission to undergraduate and postgraduate courses offered in Engineering & Technology, Architecture and Pharmacy courses by colleges in the state. WBJEE 2021 exam will be conducted on July 11. For detailed information regarding WBJEE, click on the options given in the below table.

9MHTCET: Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MHT CET) is conducted by the DTE (Directorate of Technical Education), Maharashtra for admissions to first-year Engineering and Technology programmes (BE/BTech) and Pharmacy programmes (BPharma/PharmaD) in the state. MHT CET 2021 dates regarding the exam and other events will be announced by the exam conducting authority soon.

10. BCECE (Scrapped): Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examinations Board (BCECEB) used to conduct Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination (BCECE) for admissions to engineering, medical and agricultural courses offered by institutes located in the Bihar. The exam was scrapped for BTech courses in the year 2019, admissions to engineering programmes in the state are through JEE Main.
